Here you will have a chance to watch fire erupting in the middle of the desert. The appearance of this site is still shrouded in secrets. It happened in 1971 when Soviet geologists found gas accumulation in this place. They started to drill at the site where they tapped into the underground cavern. However, an incident took place: all the equipment and transport fell down in the big hole. In order to prevent the release of poisonous gasses from the hole, they decided to burn it off. Geologists assumed that the fire would go out in a few days, but they were mistaken. Since 1971, the natural gas from the crater has been continuously burning day and night. Return to Ashgabat (slow driving after dark). Arrival at the hotel before or just after midnight.
