24th December 2024: Delhi
On arrival in Delhi, you will be met by a representative and personalized welcome at the airport and transfer to the hotel. Delhi, a city with great culture and modernity calls for every tourist to visit a new place and gain a new experience, Delhi is a cosmopolitan city that has a rich history stretching back thousands of years. It has been the capital of at least seven or eight great civilizations, and each of them has left monuments worth exploring.
25th December 2024: Delhi
After breakfast, this morning, get set to explore the old and new parts of Delhi. The exploration of Old Delhi starts with a visit to the 17th century Jama Masjid followed by a rickshaw ride through the narrow, winding lanes of colourful and bustling Chandni Chowk. Stop in front of the Mughal Empire’s most opulent fort. In the afternoon, proceed to New Delhi where you will drive past the Presidential Palace and India Gate, a memorial raised in honour of the Indian soldiers martyred during the Afghan war. Drive along the Rajpath past the Parliament House and secretarial buildings. Afterwards visit Qutab Minar, the 12th century tower of victory built by a slave king and prototype of all towers in India. Also visit the 16th century Humayun’s tomb, a precursor to the Taj Mahal.
26th December 2024: Delhi
Breakfast at hotel and then we explore Akshardham Temple and then continue sightseeing of Lotus Temple and then free for shopping in Delhi.
27th December 2024: Delhi – Kalka – Shimla (By Train – Shatabdi Express, 07h40/11h40 & Toy Train–12h10/1730)
Delhi – Kalka – Dharampur – Shimla. Rise early this morning as we board the Shatabdi Express train to Kalka. You then transfer independently to the Himalayan Queen Toy Train for a unique experience to Dharampur. The 33km journey sees us travel along narrow twists and turns, through scenic countryside and numerous tunnels. Pass through forests, over bridges and stop at old, traditional stations. Arriving into Dharampur we complete the journey to our hotel in Shimla by road, where the evening is at leisure. Overnight.
28th December 2024: Shimla
After breakfast, today we explore the city of Shimla, located 2,100m above sea level at the foot of the mighty Himalayas. Explore the famous main street – The Mall, which is lined with stately English homes and has a distinctly British feel. We independently explore Shimla and can stroll around the mall, take in the snow-capped panoramic surrounds, or drop by the colourful Lakkar Baazar. Overnight.
29th December 2024: Shimla – Amritsar
Breakfast at hotel and then depart for Amritsar. Arrive Amritsar, check-in at hotel. Free at leisure. Overnight.
30th December 2024: Amritsar
This morning, we tour the highlights of Amritsar, including the Jallianwala Bagh Memorial and the iconic Golden Temple. The temple is regarded as the holiest pilgrimage site in Sikhism and the dome is made of pure gold. Lat er we travel to the village of Wagah, on the India-Pakistan border. At sunset watch the colourful, dance like changing of the guard ceremony and flag lowering, which signals the closing of the border for the day. We then return to Amritsar. Overnight.
31st December 2024: Amritsar – Mumbai (By Flight – AI 650, 09h20/12h10)
After breakfast and depart for airport to connect flight for Mumbai. Arrive Mumbai, transfer to hotel. Check-in and day free for leisure. Overnight at hotel.
01st January 2025: Mumbai After breakfast city tour Once you are in Mumbai, the list of sites to visit is endless. First of all, the twinkling lights from the skyscrapers itself will keep your eyes wide open with excitement and wonder. And to add up to your excitement you have a number of sites to visit that could be teamed up as historical sites, contemporary wonders, archaeological sites, religious sites and natural wonders. The Gateway of India is the main attraction of Mumbai city. Built to commemorate the visit of King George V and Queen Mary for the Delhi Durbar in the year 1911, this massive historical monument makes a must visit during your Mumbai sightseeing. Moreover, there are sites like the Mani Bhawan or the Gandhi memorial, Marine Drive and Juhu that give you the feeling of being in the commercial capital of India. The gardens like the Hanging Garden and the Kamla Nehru Garden will provide you the much-needed rest between your sightseeing trips and the Chowpatty gives you the view of one of the most happening beaches of Mumbai. Overnight at Hotel.
02nd January 2025: Mumbai
After early breakfast, Morning at 0800 hrs we drive to the Gateway of India to take the catamaran for Elephanta Caves with an accompanied English-Speaking Guide. Boat leaves at 0900 hrs. Enjoy a one-hour boat ride across Mumbai Harbour brings you to the lovely, green Elephanta Island. Here you visit some of the huge and intricately carved Cave Temples dating back to the 7th century and dedicated to the Sun God – Shiva. Large panels depict episodes in his life. The central sculpture represents Shiva’s three aspects as creator, preserver and destroyer. Return back to the pier at 1300 hrs. Later Car & Driver at Disposal to explore the street market for Shopping. Return to hotel. Overnight.
03rd January 2025: Mumbai – Departure
After breakfast, depart for airport to connect homebound flight.
